Small update on curly girl. So far my the hair in the back is showing the best result. Now because my hair is KINKY, not curly mind you, I’m expecting it to take a little longer to see results over my entire head. Next week I’ll give you full photos and a full synopsis over my current routine.

I’ve decided to trial the Curly Girl method for 6 weeks to seen if their will be a noticeable change in the look and feel of the my hair.

For those who are unfamiliar with the Curly Girl (CG) method, it’s basically no longer using shampoo to cleanse your hair so that the end result with eliminate frizz as well as enhance your hair’s natural texture. For more information you can read all about it here

I’ve been researching the CG method the last three weeks and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t completely sold. All the testimonials I had seen were of women who had hair textures ranging from 2a to 3c/4a (maybe). My hair is rather kinky (4a/b) with strands that do no clump together. So if I were going to try this method, I’d have to approach it differentialy.

First off, my ultimate goal is not curl definition, it will be to eliminate frizz as well as increase the overall feel of the  hair and luster. All my products are now silicon and alcohol free and I only use my fingers along with a wide tooth comb to detangle.

I will report back to you guys on a weekly basis on the progress my hair has made. Hopefully by the end of the six weeks, there will be a noticeable difference. The products and techniques I will be using during this period will be explained in a later post. I’m really interested on seeing how CG will work on someone with very kinky hair, so wish me luck!

I’m preparing my hair for a blow out and trim, look at how much is shrinks after being wet.

Mind you that my hair hasn’t even been blow dried yet, this is just halfway through detangling. *Sighs*

Hairstyle of the Day- Cinnabun Updo with a side Pomp

Two year natural today, whoop whoop!

I’ve had mini twists in for about 3 weeks that I took down this past Monday night. The twistout looked cute but now that my hair has shrunken, I’m kind of scared to even try to detangle it. It was already matted while the twists were in, so lord knows what my scalp is looking like at the moment.

Moral of this story is, detangle right after taking down long term hairstyles, it’ll save you the trouble I’m about to put myself through. (Did I mention I’m seriously tender-headed? No bueno)

Last week, I got the chance to meet up with a couple of ladies at our school’s first natural hair  meet up. The even was put on by Beautiful Alliance/Nat-Tri-Elle. It was so exciting to see all the gorgeous textures and the ladies support one another.
